It is not specifically about the people of Mitchell, however it will link to the experiences of the aboriginal people of Mitchell as it includes; Respecting Elders, Observing Law, Learning form the natural world, Helping each other, sharing resources, Giving back to community, Having fun together. This is the story of people who came to the Isisford district in search of better chances in life. They lived on the banks of the Barcoo River. This book tells the story of their lives and the work they did to make the Australian outback what it is today. The Gunggari nation is mentioned several times, however it is spelt Kuungkari. Look at the index in the back of the book and it will give you the page numbers where information can be found.

This book was produced by the Gunggari Elders, the Nalingu Aboriginal Corporation and local teachers. The book includes some family trees as well as photos of local families, particularly those from the Yumba. It also has a few maps to show where the Top Yumba and the Bottom Yumba were and where different families lived at the time. Though this book was produced in 1985, the photographs, maps and information of the past are still useful and help to imagine the life and times of the people at the Yumba. If you have family links to Mitchell, South-west Queensland - The Nalingu Aboriginal Corporation have quite a lot of family research.
